4th Street Garage

Carbs, points & early EFI.

The cars other shops won't touch.

Pre-OBD II specialists in Big Spring, Texas. Carburetors, points ignition, drum brakes and early fuel injection, diagnosed by hand with a meter, a scope and a vacuum gauge.

What we do

Hands-on work on the systems modern shops have forgotten how to fix.

Carburetors

Tuning, rebuilds and idle mixture set by vacuum gauge. Holley, Quadrajet, Carter, Rochester and more.

Points and ignition

Points, dwell and timing set right, or a clean conversion to electronic ignition when you want one.

Early fuel injection

Throttle-body, tuned-port and other early systems, diagnosed with a meter, a scope and the factory manual.

Drum brakes

Shoes, wheel cylinders, hardware, lines and master cylinders, adjusted so it stops straight.

Something else old?

No-starts, stumbles and gremlins. Tell us what it's doing and we'll tell you if it's our kind of job.

If it's pre-OBD II, it's our kind of car.

Roughly anything built before 1996. Real cars, built out of steel (except Corvettes) and built to be repaired, not replaced.

Appointment only, so your car gets the time it needs instead of getting squeezed between oil changes.

How a job works here

  1. Book it. Online or by phone. Tell us what it's doing.
  2. Drop it off. We walk around it with you, photograph it, and you approve the diagnosis time before we start.
  3. Approve each step. Estimates and any changes go to your private repair page. You read them and sign on your phone. Nothing gets done without your signature.
  4. Follow along. Updates and photos post to the same page while we work.
  5. Pick it up. Your signed paperwork, invoice and receipt are all on the page to save or print.
